The Water Tower – Brežice’s most prominent landmark
Due to its height, imposing exterior and solid build, the water tower beckons from miles away, admired by locals and visitors alike. It was built in 1914 for the needs of the town’s water supply. The Water Tower – a monument to water
The Brežice Water Tower is Slovenia’s only water tower that is fully accessible to visitors and a testament to the innovative water supply methods that were in use in flatland areas in the early 20th century. Stories about technical advances, love and the integration of nature and culture are presented on seven floors. The water tower is now accessible to everyone; access to the highest point of the tower – the viewpoint, which has been set up in the former water tank and offers a 360-degree view of Brežice and the surrounding area – is provided by means of the stairs and the elevator.Tours of the water tower are guided – a prior reservation and a ticket are required. Tickets can be purchased at the Brežice Water Tower Visitor Centre or at the Posavje Museum Brežice front desk.
